Abstract present investigation involved four Egyptian lines. three dents and one flint, all possible and their reciprocals. The 16 entries were a field trial experiment in 1976 /1977 and data on different morphological characters, yield embryos and histological features. The objectives were to evaluate heterosis, maternal effects and nature of gene action for the different traits. The results be summarized as follows : 1- Yield and yield components : Significant heterosis were present over the means of the mid parents. Significant heterosis existed over the higher only parents in number of grain per pow, there were no significant difference between reciprooal ,crosses, indicating no maternal effects. 2- Morphological characters of grains, embryos and seedlings : Significant heterosis were present over the means the mid-parents for length of grains, length of embryos and number of adventitious roots. The performance of the higher parents were better than the means of the F1 hybrids for all traits of grains, embryos and seedlings, except for length of grain. |
