Abstract This study was carried out at the International Livestock Management Training Center (l.L.M.T.C), Sakha, Animal Production Research Institute, Agriculture! Research Center, Ministry of Agriculture during the period from October 2000 to May 2003. A total of 20 Ba lady animals (10 cows and 10 heifers) and I 0 Friesian heifers were used as donor animals. The study included 4 experiments using different superovulatory regimen to determine the optimal dose of PMSG. Also supplemination of GnRH and rBST were used to study its effect on superovulatory response. A total of 5 Balady heifers and 4 Friesian heifers were used as recipient animals. Transferring 5 Friesian embryos into 5 Balady heifers resulted in 2 calf born (one male 42 kg body weight and one female 38 kg body weight), also transferring 4 Balacly embryos into 4 Friesian heifers resulted in one pregnancy on 60 days. Experiment 1: Ovarian response and embryo recovery from Balady cows superovulated with different doses of PMSG. Nine Balady cows were used in this experiment divided into three groups. Each group (3 cows) was treated with 2000, 2500 and, 3000 i.u. PMSG respectively. I. Superovulatory response was as follows: I. Number of corpora lutea was 5.7 ± 2.19, 11.7 ± 0.88, and 9.0 ± 0.58 for the three groups, respectively. 2. Number of unovulated follicles was 1.3 ± 0.33, 1.7 ± 0.33 and 2.33 ± 0.67 for the three croups respectively. 3. Total response to superovulation was 7.0 ± 2.52, 13.3 ± 1.20, and 11.6 ± 1.33 for the three groups, respectively. |
