Abstract

The present study aimed to provide a health Educational program for anemic pregnant women and Identify its impact on their pregnancy outcome in Dakahlia Governorate the study was Carried out on a sample of 150 anemic pregnant women who were attending at Talkha& Dekernes maternal and child health Centers in Dakahlia Governorate study tools included a structured interview questionnaire that comprised socio demographic characteristics and past present and obstetrical history an assessment sheet for mother & newborn results showed that the majority of both groups their age ranged between20-<40 years mothers education of study group and control group attained secondary education(62.6% , 53.3%, respectively) The highest percentages of both groups belonged to moderate social class A significant difference was Found between both groups regarding the menstruation duration (p= 0.010) Anemic pregnant women complained from weakness/general fatigue during the present pregnancy (89.3% & 82.7% , respectively) compliance with iron intake for the study group89.3% compared to 71.3% for the control group less than three quarters of both Groups Preferred take away and more than half eating ready meats Mothers HB level increased more among the study group than in control group A positive effect on pregnancy outcome was found in study group more than in control one as revealed by an improvement in newborn condition weight and less complications the study concluded that the health educational program about anemia had a positive effect on pregnancy outcome and mothers nutrition played an important role in the improvement of mothers outcome the study was recommended that early attendance to antenatal care to discover anemia nutrition education to be stressed and attention to be taken on follow up during pregnancy further studies should be conducted to generalize the results conclusions and recommendations of present study.
