Abstract This study was conducted on crossbrecl sheep ) and goats (Alpine x Baladi) where three animals from each species at the age of birth, 2.0 and 4.5 months were studied. The study aimed at comparing the development of anatomical and histological structure of testes and epididymis with advance of age in the two species. Live body weight, testes and epididyrnis weights were recorded. The epididymis was divided into seven successive segments along it. Both testes and epididymis weights expressed as proportional to live body weight were larger in goats than sheep in all studied ages. The values obtained increased with advance of age. Proportional testes weight was .214, .489 and 1.946 g/l kg b.w. in sheep at birth, 2 and 4.5 months of. age, respectively. The corresponding values for proportional epididymis weight were .114, .189 and .271 g/l kg b.w. in goats and .108, .115 and .154 g/l kg b.w. in sheep, respectively. |
