Abstract
Schistosoma mansoni is one of the dangerous helminthic parasites which causes bilharziasis. It induces granulomatous inflammation primarily in the liver, following deposition of the eggs in this organ. The host induces oxidative stress due to production of reactive oxygen intermediate (ROI)and changes in the antioxidative defenses of the liver.
