Abstract 1- surveys were initiated during 1985 and 1986 in waterways in different sites in delta of the nile While two hundred fungal isolates belonging to different genera including alternaria, rhizoctonia, stemphyllium. Penicillium and aspergillus were isolated from diseased waterhyacinth plants. 2- Theree isolates of a. alternates as well as c. rodmanii were found to be host specific to waterhyacinth plants. 3- A. alternate was found to be the best candidate for biological management of waterhyacinth followed by a. alternate(6) and a. alternate (3), while c. rodmanii did not show promising effect on waterhyacinith control in Egypt. 4- Sporulation of a. alternate (3),(5) and (6) was most abundant on commonbean agar medium, while the sporule-tion of c. rodmanii was aboundant on waterhyacinth leaves extract agar medium. |
