Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out in two successive seasons of 1998/1999 and 1999/2000 in order to study the efficiency of using soil conditioners in sandy soil at Ziean village – Blequas –Dakahlia governorate on yield and nutrient content of wheat plant ( Sakha 8).In the 1st season the synthetic soil conditioners were Bituinen emulsion ( Bit), polyvinyl acetate ( PVAc ) at the rate of 0.3 and 0.6% and ureafonnaldenyde ( UF) at the rate of 0.1 and 0.2%. The conditioners were incorporated with sandy soil. All treatment were replicated four times. The above rate of conditioners were chosen from some primary studies in laboratory and Greenhouse in order to determine the F.C. of the soil treated with different soil conditioners at different rates, the penetration rate and the generation of wheat seeds under used conditioners. The main results of study during first season can be summarized as follow :Grains and straw yield were significantly affected by kind and rate of oil conditioner. UF at the rate 0.1 and 0.2% exceeded the other conditioners. UF 0.2% gave the highest grain and straw yields ( 1764.00 and 2913.75 kg/fed) respectively, followed by UF 0.1 % ( 1761.38 and 2835.00 kg/fed). Soil conditioners were arranged due to its effect on grain yield as the following : UF 0.2 > UF 0.1 < Bit 0.3 > Bit 0.6 > control >PVAc 0.6 PVAc 0.3%. The values were 1764.00, 1761.38, 1225.00, 1093.75, 1067.50, 686.13, and 661.50 kg/fed, respectively while straw yield can be arranged in this order : UF 0.2> UF 0.1 >Bit 0.3 > Bit 0.6 > control > PVAc 0.3 > PVAc 0.6%.. The values were 2913.75, 2835.00, 1785.00, 1616.13, 1505.00, 1220.63, and 1159.38 kg/fed respectively.
