Abstract
Effects of some growth regulators on the morphology and essential oil production in fennel (Foeniculum Valgare Mill.) and chamomile (Chamomills recutita(L.) Rauschert) plants were studied.
Fennel
Among all the growth regulators applied under field conditions GA3 and CCC were slightly more effective in accelerating the beginning of flowering of fennel plants, and the time of application showed. no consistent difference in this respect. In the greenhouse. Ethrel showed no marked difference and. B-9 enhanced the beginning of flowering only When applied at the lowest concentration (lOOOmg/l).)
Compared with all the treated and untreated plants B-9 proved to be most effective in reducing plant height either at the beginning of flowering or at the harvest, under field conditions and in the greenhouse, and CCC had the weakest effect, While GA3 increased strongly the plant height in all Cases.
The growth retardation by B-9 and the growth stimulation by GA3 were more pronounced at the early application than at the late.
