Abstract

Diabetic foot complications are the most common cause of nontraumatic LEAs in the industrialized world. In developing countries, diabetic foot problems might be exacerbated by sociocultural factors such as the lack of knowledge regarding diabetic foot complications, the inappropriate footwear and the absence of specialized podiatric services. The diabetic foot is a significant economic problem, particularly if amputation results in prolonged hospitalization, rehabilitation, and an increased need for home care and social services. It is clear that the DF patients need a lot to do with him to prevent foot ulceration that can end to amputation. And this necessitate the implementation of multidisciplinary diabetic foot clinic which combine the expertise of many types of health-care providers to provide the best possible multidisciplinary care and treatment for patients with foot problems, follow up them as a attempt to prevent recurrence, investigate the pathogenesis of these problems, and to research new treatments. The multidisciplinary team should consist of Orthopaedic, Vascular Surgeons, Endocrinologists or Physicians, Podiatrists, Orthotist, Orthopaedic shoe fitter, Diabetic Educator and Clinical Nurse.
