Abstract Diabetes mellitus (D.M) is chronic disorder characterized by impaired glucose metabolism and other energy yielding fuels as well as late vascular and neuropathic complications due to insulin deficiency which may be total partial or relative. Diabetic neuropathy is probably the most common chronic complication of diabetes that encompass a wide range of abnormalities affecting both peripheral and autonomic nervous systems causing considerable morbidity and mortality. This study had been carried out on Internal Medicine Department, Endocrinology and Metabolism Unit, out patient clinic and clinical pathology department on 50 subject were divided into 5 groups, 30 type 2 diabetic patients (Groups I, II and III), 10 patients non-diabetic with peripheral neuropathy (Group IV) and 10 healthy subjects as a control group (Group V). In the present study the aim was to evaluate the vitamin Bl2 and folic acid status in diabetic patient with and without neuropathy in comparison with other diabetic risk factors. |
