Abstract Back ground: The lung is a very attractive target for drug delivery. It provides direct access to disease site and minimizes systemic side effects. Objects: to throw the light on different aspects of inhalation therapy, devices and their application in the acute respiratory care setting. Methods and results: Aerosol therapy in the treatment of pediatric respiratory disorders has gained importance over the last decades. Inhaler systems can deliver effective therapy to patients when they use the inhaler properly. Oxygen is life saving, the use of other special gases has become common practice in pediatric intensive care department like nitric oxide, heliox, and carbon dioxide. Conclusion: Inhalation therapy has rapid onset of action and enormous surface area. Oxygen must be written in terms of flow rate and monitored carefully. Nitric oxide is potent pulmonary vasodilator used in primary pulmonary hypertension. heliox is used in obstructive airway disorders. ICS is the corner stone treatment of asthma while beta agonist is used in asthma exacerbation . |
