Abstract

Delvotest-SP analysis could detect the antibiotic residues in 15 (11.54 %) out of a total 130 (100 %) different milk samples, distributed as 4 (13.33 %), 7 (23.33 %), and 3 (10.00 %) out of 30 samples each of raw market, raw farm bulk and pasteurized milk, respectively, besides none (0.0 %) and one (5.00%)out of 20 samples each of sterilized and milk powder, consecutively. Delvotest-SP analysis could determine the withdrawal periods of oxytetracycline 5%and procaine penicillin residues in the milk of 6 native cows by 4and5days,successively,following intramuscular injection for 3-successive days to 3-healthy cows group ”once daily”.Three different heat treatments were applied on both milk contained oxytetracycline 5%and procaine penicillin residues, showed missing inactivation effect for the first treatment (pasteurization at 71C/ 15sec) on both residues types, while the remaining two treatments (boiling at 100.17C/30 min & sterilization at 121C/ 15 min) had only inactivation effects on oxytetracycline 5% residues in milk, but did not on procaine penicillin residues. Comparison between the sensitivity of Delvotest-SP and that of Bacillus subtilis diffusion assay (BSDA) about their capability for qualitative detection of the minimum levels each of oxytetracycline 5% and procaine penicillin, exhibited that the detection limits achieved by Delvotest-SP were higher for oxytetracycline 5%(0.3 g/ml)and lower for procaine penicillin (0.002 IU/ml), vice versa showed by BSDA as the lower detection limit was for oxytetracycline (0.05 g/ml)and higher for procaine penicillin (0.05 IU/ml).
