Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the reasonable factors that controlling the water advance in the Abu Madi El Qara gas field. This is by integrating the available subsurface geological and geophysical data of 8 wells in El Qara lease and 20 wells in Abu Madi lease to delineate the geometry, lithofacies distribution and the depositional environments of the Abu Madi sandstones. these aims are conducted by determinating of the lateral and vertical distribution of the Abu Madi Formation (The main Formation) in the study area, analysing of some petrographical properties to make some observations on the type and entity of porosity, on the presence of cements and on the recognizable diagenetical events. By delineating the Sedimentology and reservoir characteristics of the Abu Madi Formation we studied their influence on the water advance in the Abu Madi El Qar`a gas field. Correlation between many stratigraphic sections along five profiles show the structuralstratigraphic complexity in the study area while, Integrating of the results achieved from the geophysical studies and petrophysical properties show the reservoir heterogenity and its influence on the production conditions and the differential water rises of the G.W.C in the field.
