Abstract A total of one hundred random samples of market raw milk and cream ( 50 samples of each) were collected from different localities in ElDakhalia Governorate to be examined for the incidence of klebsiella species , coliform count as well as acidity. Moreover, the isolated klebsiella were tested for their behaviour towards some antibiotics. The correlation coefficient between coliform count c.f.u/mL and acidity % in market raw milk and cream respectively declared positive significant correlation (r = 0.79363, P 0.001), while cream showed a low (r = 0.25521, P 0.1) significant correlation. Klebsiella , Enterobacter and Escherichia were isolated on VRB and MaCconkey agar media. On the other hand K. pneumoniae , Klebsiella oxytoca, K. ozaenae and K. rhinoscleromati. were detected on the same media , The biogram of klebsiella pneumoniae was assessed towards different antibiotics, K. pneumonia was resist to Amoxacyllin, Ampicillin/Sulbactam, Cefoperazone, Erythromycin, Nalidixic acid and Norfloxacin. While the susceptibility of K. pneumoniae to Neomycin was intermediate and highly susceptible to Amikacine, Cefotaxime, Ciprofloxacin, Chloramphenicol and Nitrofuration. The public health and economic importance of isolated Klebsiella spp. as well as recommendations for preventing and minimizing the microbial contamination of market raw milk and cream were also discussed. |
