Abstract This study was carried out on seven healthy completely edentulous male patients with well developed residual ridges to evaluate and compare the stress transmission on the maxillary edentulous ridge by complete dentures with three different denture base materials which where reinforced heat cure acrylic resin by rubber inclusion bodies (high impact), reinforced heat cure acrylic resin by 5% aluminum powder, and conventional heat cure acrylic resin. For every patient, three complete dentures were processed by conventional short curing cycle of processing technique, the processing errors were eliminated by the selective grinding using the laboratory and clinical remount. Form the results of this study, it can be concluded that: 1 the reinforced denture base by rubber inclusion bodies enhanced the mechanical properties (less deformation) of the denture base and thus reduced the stresses transmitted on the residual alveolar bone. 2 The reinforced denture base by metal was deformed during function and transmitted more stresses on the residual alveolar bone. |
