Abstract Twenty clinical isolates of S. pyogenes were isolated from different sources, including Mansoura University Hospitals outpatient clinics and some primary schools in Mansoura. Streptokinase, hyaluronidase and streptodornase were detected among the clinical isolates. The clinical isolate No. 31 demonstrated the highest streptokinase level amongst the tested isolates, using BHI broth at 37(R@(BC with shaking at 150 rpm for 14 hours followed by another 5 hours of static condition at 37(R@(BC. Only 5 of 20 different additives improved streptokinase production when added to BHI broth. Neither batch nor continuous streptokinase production in fermenter was advantageous over shake flask fermentation under the used conditions. Maximum production of hyaluronidase was obtained from strain No. 2s using BHI broth. Streptodornase was screened among some of the clinical isolates with strain No. 31 of the highest streptodornase activity. |
