Abstract The present work is assigned to study the corrosion behaviour of 316 stainless steel in 2 M hydrochloric acid solution and the inhibiting effect of some pyrene derivatives. The obtained results showed that the inhibition efficiency of these compounds increased by increasing their concentration and decreased by raising the temperature, so that the adsorption of these compounds is physical adsorption and follow Frumkin<U+2019>s isotherm. The inhibition efficiencies also increased by addition of potassium iodide, potassium thiocyanate and potassium bromide. Some thermodynamic parameters are computed and discussed. The influence of chemical structure of these pyrene derivatives on their inhibition efficiencies was discussed. |
