Abstract

Malathion is one of the organ phosphorus compounds widely as insecticide in Egypt. Study aimed to identify the possible effects of on the development of the nervous system in albino rat. 120 pregnant females of the albino rat were used from which 180 embryos were utilized. The pregnant females two groups (control and treated) each contained treated group received a daily oral dose of 1/2 11.4% Malathion starting from the 1st day of conception day of sacrifice. Three treated animals and control one was sacrificed daily, starting from the up to full term. Specimens from the brain, sciatic nerve and skeletal muscles were taken. Cord, three pregnant animals from both groups were left till their newborns were sacrificed at the ages of 2, 4, 6, 9, 18, and 21 postnatal days. Their spinal cords and sciatic dissected out. There are differentiation was studied in sections stained with On the other hand, cellular maturation was d up in sections stained with cresyl fast violet for Nissl and Glees/silver stain for argyrophilic reaction. Fresh ns were examined for acetyl cholinesterase activity.
