Abstract

•Purpose: to evaluate the infrainguinal bypass in chronic lower limb ischelnia as regard patency and limb salvage rate. •Methods : this study included 82 patients who underwent 85 infraingulnal bypass by using vein graft or P.T.F.E graft (from January ] 995 to January 2000). - 37 patients ( 36 grafts) did femoro- popliteal vein graft. 14 patients. (13 grafts) did fernoro- popliteal PTFE graft. And 34 patients. (33 grafts ) did femoro-distal bypass. - The patient’s age and sex, history of hypertension atherosclerotic heart disease, diabetes and / or smoking, are determined & also the site of distal anastomosis and the state of runoff determined by preoperative angiography •Results :- It was found that infrainguinal bypass using vein graft had better patency and limb salvage rate than synthetic graft as the patency rate in vein graft was 94% after one year & 79% after 3 years and limb salvage rate was 89% & pateiicy rate in synthetic graft was 85% after one year & 59% after 3 years and limb salvage rate was 85.5% .- It was also found that femoro - popliteal bypass had better patency and limb salvage rate than femoro ~ distal bypass as the patency rate in femoro-distal bypass was 80% after one year & 54% after 3 years and limb salvage. rate was 76.5%. •Conclusion: - It was found that the results achieved froni this study concllide that aggressive use of infrainguinal bypass grafting ih patients with ischemic tissue loss result
