Abstract
Back pain IS an extremely common complaint, about 800/0 of population will develop back pain at some point during their lives. Moreover, it is a common cause of functional limitation and dependency with serious impact on the productivity. The aim of this work was to determine the prevalence of back pain in school adolescents. Our study comprised 1810 school students: 914 were girls and 896 were boys. They were taken from five different preparatory and secondary schools. These schools were located in Aga, Dakahlia Governorate. Their age ranged from 11-17 years, their weight ranged from 25-90 Kg and their height ranged from 130-186 em. The consent of Ministry of Health, Ministry of Education and the consent of the student’s parents were taken before examination of the students. This survey did not include pain in other area e.g. back of the shoulder, scapular pain. All students in this survey were subjected to the following: 1) Full history taking and thorough clinical examination including general examination, examination of the musculoskeletal system, full examination of the back, and postural habits were assessed
