Abstract Esophageal manometry is a diagnostic four lumen manometry indicated in the assessment of patients with symptoms suggestive of esophageal disease, prior to antireflux surgery and assessing possible esophageal involvement in systemic disorders. Diabetic patients exhibit delayed emptying of the esophagus, incoordinated esophageal peristalsis and decreased resting lower esophageal sphincter pressures. In patients with cirrhosis and tense ascites there is close association between gastroesophageal reflux and lower esophageal sphincter incomptence . The aim of the present study is to assess the esophageal motility disorders and serum insulin level in patients with diabetes mellitus and/or bilharzial hepatic fibrosis. The present study comprised 30 patients of both sexes with mean age = 32.9 and 7 control subjects of both sexes with mean age |
