Abstract Computer tomography (CT), is a non-invasine, safe technique ’- of high diagnostic effeciency. It is approxamitely 98% accurate in detecting intracranial lesions. CT has come to playa very important role in the diagnosis and treatment of patients suspected of having parasitic and inflammatory processes of the brain. Computer tomography permits earlier diagnosis and ”more precise localization of intracranial infections, so CT has dramatically .. decreased morbidity and mortality in patients with intracranial infections. CT is effective in detecting cerebral abscesses, cerebritis, encephalitis, ventriculitis, meningitis and empyema. With CT, the optimal timing of drainage procedures or surgical interference can be determined. CT also permits non invasive monitoring of the therapy as well as recognition of early and late complications. In this work ninety selected cases of different intracranial infections were studied and analysed so as to show the value of computed tomography as a diagnostic tool in intracranial infections. Each case was examined clinically, MRI was carried out in some selected cases. Of course all cases were subjected to examination by computer tomograpny and {he couected nata were analysed and compared with the operative res ults . The final results were compared. |
