Abstract Rheumatoid arthritis IS a chronic symmetrical inflammatory polyarthritis of unknown aetiology affecting all ages and both sexes more in females. The classical radiological triad of erosion, loss of joint space and juxta-articular osteoporosis are the main radiological finding of rheumatoid arthritis.(Foley, et al., 1991) This study comprised 28 patients, 8 males and 20 females with an age ranging from 7 - 62 years. The mean age was 34.5 years. The most prevelance decade was the 4th followed by the 5th decade. All patients were examined as following: 1- Thorough clinical examinations 2- Laboratory and serological investigations 3- Radiological examinations: Plain x-ray studies were carried out for the wrists and hands of all patients and for knees in 7 patients. C.T. scanning was performed for wrists and hands of 5 patients and for knees of three patients. MRI was done for wrists and hands of all patients and in addition for knees of 7 patients. |
