Abstract
This study was performed on 100 rheumatic chi Idren in adition to 40 healthy control group. Blood samples and throat swabs were taken from each child. Blood samples were used for determination of ESR in the first and second hour and ASO titre while throat swabs were used for isolation, identification and determination of tolerance of GABHS. According to the results obtained in this work it is apparrent that: Isolated GABHS strains in presence of penicillin prophylaxis is consistent with many other studies mentioned in literature. Insignificant difference (P > 0.05) in number of isolated GABHS strains between rheumatic (48%) and control (45%) groups owing to penicillin prophylaxis in rheumatic group. There is a difference in percentage ratio of tolerant GABBS strains isolated from rheumatic (27%) and control (11.1%) groups.
