The patients were divided into 3 groups each one included 30 eyes the first group had manual extracapsular cataract extraction and small optic PMMA IOLs, the second group had phacoemulsification and silicone IOLs, the third group had phacoemulsification and hydrogel IOLs. Full ophthaltnological examination was done including biomicroscopy of the anterior segment, fundus examination, tonometry and biometry. An cases were followed up postoperatively for at least one year. - Comparing the visual results in the 3 groups the mam . difference was in the faster visual nehabilitation and less postoperative astigmatism in the silicone and hydrogel group than in the Pl’vIIvlA group.
