Abstract
The aim of the present study is to assess the the extracranial carotid arteries by a simple non invasive inexpensive repititive tool to search for atherosclerotic changes and their correlation with similar ischemic coronary artery disease in similar age groups. The material of the study comprised 68 subjects: 53 patients with various types of ischemic heart disease and 15 subjects as a control group. Patients were classified into 4 groups:- * Group I: 20 patients presented with acute translnurallnyocardial infarction. * Group II: 10 patients presented with non Q-wave myocardial infarction. * Croup III: 1 () patients with unstable angina. * Group IV: 13 patients with stable angina. The patients were randomly selected from those admitted to coronary care unit in Dep. (4) Mansoura University Hospital and Coronary Care Unit in Ernergcncy Hospital. The control group were workers and employers of these hospitals.
