Abstract In the present work, 100 patients with different types and different durations were subjected to thorough history, clinical examination, and biopsy of lesions of different durations, the biopsied lesions were examined histopatholo-gically in hematoxylin and eosin stained sections to correlate between the pathological findings at different stages of evolution. Most of our patients were found to fall in age group 10-19 years with sex ratio 1 : 1.7 males to females, but this ratio differs in other age groups. Positive family history of warts were recorded in 14% of patients. However, personal susceptibility has been suggested as we had found in many instances that, only one or two individuals may contract the infection in a household with individual numbers more than five up to 15. The rate of reccurence of warts was reported in 25% of cases, the possible aetiology of this reccurrence has been mentioned. Although immunity plays a role in spontaneous regression of warts, non of our cases gave a history of immunosuppressive drug intake which could be of value as a provoking factor for wart development. |
