Abstract

1- This study was carried out on 15 healthy normal subjects (control) and 93 patients suffering from allergic skin dermatoses (28 patients had atopic dermatitis, 22 had contact dermatitis, 20 had infectious ecaematoid dermatitis, 10 had drug eruption and 13 patients had urticaria, 2--In addition to the careful routine clinical and laboratory investigations that assured the diagnosis and excluded hepatic, renal and nutritional affections, the following estimations were performed for both the control subjects and allergic patients to evaluate the suprarenal cortical activity: a- Serum sodium (mEq/L), potassium (mEq/L) and Calcium (mg%) b«- Plasma cortisol in ug/100 ml, c- Urinary 17-oxostoroids and 17—oxogenic corticosteroids in mg/24 hour. 3** As regardsthe serum electrolytes: the findings showed a significant decrease in the mean serum sodium levels of all the allergic groups except urticaria when compared with the normal control, / The serum potassium show a significant increase in its mean level in all the allergic patients.
