Abstract
The present study was done on 30 patients suffering from bilharzial splenomegalyt without oesophageal varices. They were subjected to.spieneotomy. They were 20 males and 10 fem-ales with an agu ranged Zrom 25 - 45 years. Thorough clinical examination was done preoperatively to all patients. Preoperative and at 10 days postoperative estimati= of haemoglobin uoncenLration, rea blood cell count,total and differential leucocytic count platelet count and T 6 B lymphocyte 76 & count were done to all patien,ts.The finding of the present work at 10 days after splen- ectomy point to An increase in the mean haemoglobin concentration as compared with the preQperative value. This increase is stat- istically insignificant. An increase in the mean red blood cell count as compared with the preoperative value. This increase is statistically insignificant. An increase in the mean total leucocytic count as comp- ared with the preoperative value. This increase is statisti- oally insignificant.
