Abstract This study was performed to study the haemodynamic and blood gas variations in response to use of PEEP at different levels during mechanical ventilation in thirty adult patients having normal cardio-respiratory functions, submitted for orthopaedic operations. Patients were premedicated with 10 mg diazepam, 5mg morphine (30 min.), and 0.4 mg atropine (10 min.) before induction of anaesthesia. Cannulation of internal jugular vein and radial artery were performed preoperatively under local anaesthesia, and complete aspetic technique for monitoring of C.V.P. and repeated for gas analysis blood arterial ·sampling respectively. |
