Abstract The thesis consists of 226 pages divided into an introduction, five chapters, references, an English summary, 95 Figures, 21 Tables and an Arabic summary. Introduction: Deals with the importance of Zooplankton in marine habitat as it refers briefly to the studies made about the same subject in Mediterranean sea in general and the Egyptian waters in particular. Chapter one (materials and methods): Describes the study area and the sampling stations, measuring methods of some hydrographic parameters, identification and abundance of zooplankton. Chapter two (the hydrographic conditions): Describes the water quality parameters of Damietta Harbor specially those affect zooplankton abundance and community, as temp., salinity, transparency, pH, DO and phytoplankton biomass. Chapter three ( Zooplankton community): Describes the structure of zooplankton communities and diversity. Chapter four ( Zooplankton abundance) : Describes the zooplankton standing crop in general and each dominant group in particular indicating the monthly and spatial variation of standing crop throughout the year and its relation to the variations in ecological parameter. Chapter five ( Ecological notes on dominant species): Deals with the monthly and spatial variation of the abundance of the dominant species in Damietta Harbor. Also the local and world distribution of these dominant species. |
