Abstract This thesis comprises three main chapters: I Introduction: It includes general informations about the physicochemical properties, biological activity, ionization of drug molecules in different mediums and factors affecting on it. It deals also with the discovery, importance and structureactivity relationships of gbslactam antibiotics (especially for cephalosporins). Finally, this part deals with a literature survey on cephalosporin antibiotics and their metal complexes which explains (1) Different mode of chelations of these ligands with different metal ions. (2) Some previous calculations for both ionization and stability constants in water and in different aquo <U+2013> organic mixtures. (3) Applications of the new synthesized complexes of these antibiotics in corrosion inhibition and in some biological studies. II Experimental: This chapter describes the processing and details of the analytical methods used throughout the thesis and include the following items: 1 Materials and preparation of solutions (i.e., metal ions, EDTA) 2 Purification of solvents (Ethanol and 1,4 dioxane). 3 Equipments (IR, Electronic spectra, Magnetic measurements, Thermal analysis and pHmeter). 3 Methodology. III Results and Discussion: It divided into two main parts: 1 Characterizations of the isolated metal complexes. 2 Potentiometric studies. |
