Abstract The experiments of the present study were carried out at ElKarada Experimental Station <U+F028>Kafr ElSheikh Governorate<U+F029>, Animal Production Research Institute, Agricultural Research Center, Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Production Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Mansoura University during 2003 and 2005 years. The main objective of this research was studying the effect of supplementation ground corn grain and bentonite on the utilization of 3% ammoniated rice straw rations on digestibility coefficients and some rumen parameters by lactating cows. Also, some blood parameters and milk production by lactating cows were studied when fed on the same rations. This work includes two experiments. The results obtained revealed the following: There were no adverse effect on milk yield and milk yield of the constituents. Also, there were positive effect on most digestion coefficients, nutritive values, rumen parameters and blood constituents when feeding on the supplemental corn at the rate of 0.7% BW which supplied adequate amounts of both digested dry matter (DDM) and crude protein. Therefore, corn would be the preferred supplement if the low quality forage supply was limited in diets of ruminant animals. The profit per animal was greatly increased with added bentonite in the 3% ammoniated rice straw with 15% of total DMI/day corn grain than the control diet which contained 70% concentrate feed mixture+30% roughage. |
