Abstract The present work is assigned to study the corrosion behavior of carbon steel in 1 M hydrochloric acid solution and the inhibiting effect of some diaminopyrimidine derivatives. The obtained results showed that the inhibition efficiency of these compounds increased by increasing their concentration and decreased by raising the temperature, so that the adsorption of these compounds is physical adsorption and follow Frumkin<U+2019>s isotherm. The inhibition efficiencies also increased by addition of potassium iodide, potassium thiocyanate and potassium bromide. Some thermodynamic parameters are computed and discussed. The influence of chemical structure of these diaminopyrimidine derivatives on their inhibition deficiencies was discussed. |
