Abstract
Certain dental procedures and materials are capable of transmission —‘icroorganisms from a diseased patient to dental personnel either via a direct or an irect rout. Currently, both dental impressions and casts are believed to be :ential sources for indirect cross-infection. Attempts to provide adequate • -Uzation or disinfection of both showed adverse effects on some of their :erties. At the same time, the use of disinfectants for mixing hemihydrate Ders seems to be a good alternative to achieve adequate cast disinfection. r-:ier, the properties and accuracy of gypsum modified in this manner have not c9aracterized.
