Abstract

We have investigated the effect of the quadrupole core excitations up to two - phonon approximation. Three main features stand out from our calculations. The CM of the dipole resonances is nearly invariant to the introduction of two - phonon states into the reaction formalizm for one - phonon approximation. Hence, no appreciable change in the position of the CM would be expected with the introduction of n - phonons states. Also, the CM of the dipole resonances is independent on the amplitude V of the p - core and h - core interaction.
