Abstract The objective of the present work was to study the possible effects of water stress as induced by flooding and/or salinization using two levels (25% and50%) of artificial seawater mixture on growth, metabolism, enzymatic activities and endogenous growth regulators of Vigna sinensis (representing C3 plants) and Zea mays (representing C4 plants) at the vegetative stage (Exp. I). Also, particular intreset was focussed to examine the role of Kinetin application (50 ppm) as a foliar spray in overcoming the deterioratory effects that have resulted from the different water stress treatments (Exp. II). |
