Abstract ٍSorghum is a mesophyte plant and is characterized by its ability to survive under drought conditions. The objective of this study was to investigate the physiological mechanisms of drought tolerance in three Egyptian sorghum cultivars (Giza 15, Dorado and Hybrid 113). Trials were carried out to assess the impact of various treatments on the growth of sorghum in the water deficit conditions. In this study the effect of water deficit stress and defoliation on plant growth and physiology was considered with emphasis on sorghum. Two pot experiments were conducted with the drought stress being applied by withholding water at the vegetative and reproductive stages of plant growth. |
