Abstract

The objective of the present work was to study the streptomycetes flora inhabiting the rhizosphere as well as the non-rhizosphere soils of 22 typical plants growing in some desert and salt marshes of Egypt. The desert habitat was represented by Cairo-Fayium desert road, while the saline one was represented by two phytographic habitats, namely : inland salt marshes of Lake Qarun, and littoral salt marshes of El-Hamul. The results of this study revealed that the rhizosphere soils (in most cases) harboured more streptomycetes than the non-rhizospheric.
