Abstract Radial tears of the menisci are tears that extend from the inner margin of the meniscus in a perpendicular direction towards the outer peripheral margin of the meniscus. Aims and objectives: to develop a novel suture technique in repairing radial meniscal tear for better healing of the meniscus and better functional outcome. Subjects and methods; This prospective controlled study was conducted on 20 patients with radial meniscal tear, underwent repair with a combination of inside-out sutures and secondary reinforcement to the tibia using all-suture knotless anchors in Minia University Hospital. Result; The study found a significant reduction in the mean VAS score after 3 months and 6 months of operation compared to the baseline before the operation. However, there was an increase in the mean knee society score and function score after 3 months and 6 months. The success rate among the studied cases was 95%, with only one case requiring second arthroscopic repair. Post-operatively, there was a significant increase in the mean Lysholm score, from 28 ±3.3 pre-operatively to 79 ±5.8 post-operatively. These findings suggest that knee surgery can be a successful procedure. Conclusion; This novel suture technique in repairing radial meniscal tear by double vertical cross sutures through inside-out technique had better healing of the meniscus and better functional outcome. |
