Abstract

Substance use disorder is a worldwide problem that has a negative impact on people’s physical and mental well-being as well as the occupation, and health of entire nations. Addiction significantly
increases the worldwide burden of disease. One of the worldwide,
enduring problem that threatens people of all ages, social classes,
geographic locations, educational attainments, and nationalities is
substance abuse. The prevalence of heroin use disorder was thought to be higher in men than women. However, the prevalence of heroin use was shown
to be increasing faster in women, with the rate of heroin use disorder in
women doubling from 2002–2004 to 2011–2013 and increasing by only 50 % in men over that time.
