Abstract

Elastography is a promising non-invasive improvement for differentiation between reactive and malignant lymphadenopathy, sensitivity of elastography increased especially if combined with gray scale US and doppler US. Hardness on more than 50% of the node and high SR are fair to good indicators of malignancy. Strain and shear wave elastography gives quantitative and quantitative information on enlarged LNs with high diagnostic accuracy in differentiation between benign and malignant one and comparable to grey scale ultrasound. Our data suggest the application of elastography may decrease the number of invasive maneuvers for low risk LN and improve the ability to select LN with high probability of malignancy.
