Abstract Deep excavations may cause settling down and damage to adjacent structures even when they are situated on top of piles. The present research aims to study single-pile responses to soil movement that occurs due to deep-braced excavation in soft clay overlying dense sand. The main focus of the study is on how a vertical single pile reacts in terms of generated bending moment, lateral deflection, induced axial force, distribution of skin resistance, and pile settling. To provide further details on the pile’s reaction, a parametric analysis was carried out to gain a deeper knowledge of the behavior of the single pile. Using the explicit finite element code PLAXIS 3D. |
