Abstract This study was carried out at Clinical Pathology and Pediatric Departments, Faculty of Medicine, Zagazig University Hospitals. Forty eight children were included in this study. They were classified into 2 groups: Control group: It included 24 apparently healthy children. They were 15 males and 9 females, their ages ranged from (2-14) years. They matched well with patients as regard age and sex. Patients group: It included 24 pediatric newly diagnosed B – ALL patients before receiving induction therapy. They were 14 males and 10 females, their ages ranged from (3-15) years. Each group was subjected to the following: Control group: 1. Routine laboratory investigations:• Complete blood count and blood smear examination. • Liver, kidney function tests, lactate dehydrogenase, Na+, K+, Ca++,Mg++ and Ph++. 2. Specific investigation: detection of serum BAFF level. Complete history taking.< 2. Clinical examination was done particularly for fever, pallor, purpura, bone tenderness, lymph node swelling, hepatomegaly and splenomegaly. |
