Abstract

After total hip arthroplasty THA, acute postoperative pain is a common problem affecting recovery, rehabilitation, and ambulation. Appropriate pain management with minimal opioid use is necessary to reduce short and long-term opioid related complications. Multimodal analgesia including opioids, NSAIDs , acetaminophen and regional nerve blocks including continuous lumbar plexus block LPB. 205 and femoral nerve block FNB 206 have been used in THA to reduce pain and opioid. usage. (70) Various techniques like femoral nerve block, epidural analgesia, and lumbar plexus block (LPB) used for pain management in hip arthroplasty have fallen out of favor due to their side effects along with the associated motor blockade
