Abstract Due to the harmful effects on the environment resulting from the wide spread of aromatic nitro compounds (ANCs) in industry and technological applications, it has reported that the uncontrolled increase in the ANCs amount is the principal reason for the numbers of long/short-term hazardous diseases that affects human and animals. These diseases including anemia, catract, abnormal liver function, skin irritation, and carcinogenicity. In this context, there is an urgent for selective detection and removal of the toxic ANCs in the industrial wastewater to control its percentage and thus help protect the environment. “Optical Sensor Arrays for Environmental Applications” Comprises three main Chapters: This chapter contains introduction about the importance of Aromatic nitro compounds (ANCs) as row materials in many industries and technological applications. It also presents a background about distribution of these ANCs in all the environment including air, soil, and water. In addition, it extended to illustrates the hazard impact of the rapid increase in the use of these ANCs without any controlling of their percentages on human, animals and the environment. Furthermore, it demonstrates information about the different methods and techniques used for the sensing of these ANCs which aid in environmental protection. |
