Abstract

In this study, the physicochemical characteristics of a local base oil were examined. The oil was divided into sub-samples, each dissolved with varying concentrations (200, 400, and 600 wt-ppm) of nine synthesized dicationic IL compounds used as antioxidants and antifoaming agents. The compounds were identified using elemental analysis, FT-IR, and 1H-NMR, and their surface activity was measured. The blended samples were tested for foaming and oxidation characteristics. Results showed that the compounds, especially at 600 ppm, were effective antioxidants and antifoaming agents, with the most effective compounds having long spacers and substituent groups at the para-position of pyridine rings.
