Abstract

Most modified adsorbents are highly efficient in many cycles of reuse and have the potential for pollutant recovery. The study aims to evaluate the efficiency of cellulose acetate (CA), and polyethylene glycol (PEG) as well as their functionalized polymers with titanium dioxide nanoparticles (TiO2NPs) and single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs) in the removal some heavy metals (HMs) and pesticides from the aqueous media under laboratory conditions. Factors, such as, pH, time, nano-dosage, and toxicant-dosage were assessed. The prepared nanocomposites have proven their high ability to remove tested substances from water. The removal patterns were applied to the isotherm kinetics system of the Freundlich and Langmuir equations. On the applied trail in evaluating the ability of such nanostructures to change the characteristics of drainage water as well as removal of HMs, three samples from different sites were collected from El-Omom drain, El-Behira Governorate. The present study focused on the ability of such composites to enhance drainage water characteristics and removal efficiency for essential HMs from water. This finding indicates aided tool to wastewater treatment with functionalization natural polymers and good field trials for drainage water treatment and reuse.
