Abstract

The present study is focused on design, synthesis, characterization, dyeing properties, and biological evaluation of new quinazolinone azo dyes. Quinazolinone and pyrazolone derivatives have been used as precursors for the synthesis of biologically active molecules for a long time. The quinazolinone and pyrazolone dyes are nitrogen heterocyclic azo dyes that provide bright strong shades. Due to the wide spectrum of activity shown by the quinazolinone and pyrazolone moieties, the present thesis included the following topics: 1 The current study outlines a straightforward and efficient method for creating of 3--(4 2 phenylquinazolin 4( one and 3 amino 2 phenylquinazolin 4( one as starting materials in good yield for synthesizing a numerous of heterocyclic azo dyes. 2 Synthesis of new disperse azo dyes based on quinazolinone and pyrazolone moieties, starting with quinazolinone amine and a variety of substituted pyrazolone as couplers. 3 Synthesis of new series of quinazolinone reactive disperse azo dyes, starting with various substituted primary aromatic amines and quinazolinone modified with 1,3,5 trichlorotriazine (cyanuric chloride) as a coupler. 4 The chemical structure of the all synthesized azo dyes was confirmed and elucidated by different spectroscopic and analytical methods as UV visible, FT IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, elemental analysis, and melting point. 5 The synthesized quinazolinone azo dyes were applied to polyester fiber as disperse dyes and applied to polyester/cotton (blend) fiber as reactive disperse dyes. 6 Multifunctional characteristics of dyes such as colorimetric data, dyeing duration, concentration, pH, buildup, fastness properties, exhaustion and fixation, and ultraviolet protection factor of the dyed fabrics were examined. 7 Additionally, the synthesized azo dyes were tested in vitro against different types of Gram positive, Gram negative bacteria and fungi.
