Abstract This study included 82 patients on regular hemodialysis three times weekly at Menoufia University Hospitals. 56.1% of studied participants were males and 43.9% were females aged between 18-72 years. The most common original kidney disease cause was hypertension representing 29.3% of studied participants. Dialysis vintage ranged between 1-22 years with a mean value of 6.57 ±4.29 years. The mean scores and prevalence of fatigue, Anxiety, depression and sleep quality were 39.06 ±13.98, 10.10 ±3.73, 11.12 ±3.69 and 9.01 ±3.18 respectively. Fatigue was significantly higher in female, single patients, less educated, non-smokers and in patients with long dialysis vintage. Fatigue was significantly associated with higher levels of ferritin and iPTH and lower levels of vitamin D. Patients with fatigue demonstrated significant higher anxiety, depression and sleep quality scores. Univariate binary logistic regression analysis demonstrated that female gender, single, less educated, long dialysis vintage, ferritin, iPTH, anxiety score, depression score and sleep quality score all are independent predictors of fatigue while multivariate binary logistic regression analysis demonstrated that long dialysis vintage, higher serum ferritin and poor sleep quality were the predictors of fatigue. |
